Paris Fashion Week Menswear: Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter 2011
Right on the heels of Milan fashion week, designers take on the capital of haute couture, Paris, for menswear shows that continue to excite the senses and the imaginations of designers, stylists and editors alike.
This seasons Louis Vuitton collection, once again headed by super-designer Marc Jacobs had a color palette of black, brown, orange, beige and white broken up into modern suiting, casual wear and leather goods. Standout fabrics were fur, leather and velvet which were borrowed from last year’s womenswear collections. A leather orange blazer found its way on the runway, complimented by brown velvet pants and a red leather pouch with gold hardware. This would all look incredibly familiar to anyone who’d paid close attention to last year’s collections. The color palette however is what makes the greatest distinction. Its the perfect combination of muted and distinctive, a look creative director and designer Marc Jacobs is known for.
Interestingly enough, the “man clutch” found its way on the runway as well as other handbags fortelling the debut of an interesting trend for spring. Leathers were done in signature Louis Vuitton monogram, black, camel, brown, red, orange and white with a newer, slimmer and more modern take on the briefcase. Perhaps this is the answer to changing technology as the ipad and Macbook Air become increasingly popular. So long bulk, you’re not welcomed here.
