DIY inspired by Miu Miu’s grosgrain and crystal bracelet. Miu Miu’s version retails for over $200, I recreated the same look for around $8.
gold spray paint
grosgrain ribbon in various colors
hot glue gun
belt backing (sold by the yard in most fabric stores)
clasp or closure
I was unable to find rectangular rhinestones or rhinestones with a gold setting, so I made my own: I cut small pieces of balsa wood to the same size as my rhinestones, spray painted them gold and glued them to the rhinestones. This added a little more height and interest to the rhinestones, as well as mimicking the original inspiration piece, found here
I used the belt backing as the basis for the bracelet, hot gluing my grosgrain ribbon and rhinestones to it. After my ribbon and rhinestones were attached, I attached a magnetic clasp found at the craft store for about $2. It turned out to be a pretty quick and easy project, perfect for a rainy Saturday.
A couple of tips: if you don’t need a whole roll of ribbon, buy it by the yard at the fabric store. Also, don’t fixate on the the specific shapes of your inspiration pieces, I couldn’t find rectangle crystals but the square ones convey the same idea. And most of all, have fun!!
