New York Times Releases Cool Fashion App [Screenshots Inside]
The “Thursday Styles” section and T Magazine are favorites among fashion and news followers who are avid readers of The New York Times, even if only for these two components. Now that the times has spent 2011 expanding their content digitally in mobile, tablet and even taking things up a notch in social media, it seemed only right to dig a bit deeper. Enter the “The Collection”, a style app from The New York Times that presents a new way of share fashion and style news with readers.
Available in the iTunes app store, its introduction reads,
“The Collection, an iPad app from The New York Times, creates a new way for tablet readers to experience The Time’s fashion and style coverage. With an elegant, immersive and highly visual user interface, this app is a one-stop destination for all things fashion from across The Times. The Collection builds on exclusive coverage from Styles, T Magazine and The International Herald Tribune and adds slide shows, video and updates from The Time’s fashion blogs.”
Now readers can skip whipping through the magazine to get to the fashion section and simply get right to it. Unlike a subscription to the newspaper, the app and all of its content is free to download and read through March 14, 2012. After this date, some of the content will be free while unlimited content will only be available to New York Times subscribers.
