Kim Kardashian First Cover Girl For Reality TV Magazine
Its difficult to say where exactly reality television started, before the “Real World” there was “Cops” and as far as real footage, the local news has been doing a fine job for some time. But the past ten years have been different. Reality television has taken a life of its own, taking us into the homes and lifestyles of not only our favorite celebrities and “normal people” but also designers, CEO’s and aspirationals who want to take on the world. Finally, there is a magazine solely dedicated to the matter.
Reality Weekly, the official new title for American Media Inc. that arrives on newsstands Wednesday will compete against the likes of InTouch, Life & Style, People, US Weekly and OK Magazine. Which shouldn’t be a problem. Already on the cover? The number one and perhaps most successful reality star Kim Kardashian, who’ll be followed by Teen Moms, Simon Kowell, Kendra Wilson, Sandra Lee and a former “The Bachelorette” contestant. But that’s not the kicker.
How will Reality Weekly really compete on newsstands? With a price that can’t be beat. Priced at only $1.79 Â (that comes with the cost of a less glossy appeal than rivals), the magazine is up to $2 less than similar publications making it two times more attractive to magazine readers. According to CEO David Pecker, 500,000 copies will hit newsstands Wednesday, which will grow into 1 million copies over the next six weeks.
With reality television growing to include more personalities in design, food, art and even tech, we can only be curious as to what this magazine might come up with.
Reality TV, Happy New Year!
